www.youtube.com – FOX 35 Orlando – 2025-06-29 21:39:15

SUMMARY: Meteorologist Lauren Blanchard updates on a potential tropical disturbance forming over Florida by July 4. Though early to predict, no major threat is expected. The system will likely bring heavy tropical downpours, driven by a stalled boundary and upper-level low, which could create some circulation and possibly a tropical depression. Currently, scattered showers are reported across parts of Florida like Melbourne, Cocoa Beach, and Disney areas. Expect mild, muggy conditions with isolated storms developing around 11 a.m., especially near I-75. The forecast predicts recurring thunderstorms through the week. A detailed Fourth of July outlook will follow.

FOX 35 meteorologist Laurel Blanchard has a look at the tropics, including the latest on Tropical Storm Barry and the potential for a disturbance over Florida during the Fourth of July weekend.

SUMMARY: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis vowed to continue the state’s immigration detention program despite a federal judge’s injunction halting operations at the Everglades-based “Alligator Alcatraz” facility. U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams ruled the state violated federal environmental laws by locating the camp in Big Cypress National Preserve and ordered its closure within 60 days. DeSantis called the ruling judicial activism and announced plans to appeal while expanding detention capacity with a new Baker County facility. Environmental groups and the Miccosukee Tribe praised the ruling as a victory for the Everglades and tribal sovereignty. The legal battle now moves to the appellate court.
