SUMMARY: Chief Meteorologist Patrick Bigby provided a tropical update, noting that Hurricane Raphael is currently a category 2 storm in the Gulf of Mexico, 260 miles from Havana, Cuba, with winds at 105 mph. Moving west, it is expected to encounter dry air and strong wind shear, which will weaken the storm significantly. The forecast indicates uncertainty in its path, with models showing it could dip south or curve north, potentially leading to quicker dissipation. Overall, Bigby reassured that while monitoring is necessary, there is no significant cause for concern as the storm is unlikely to last.

SUMMARY: Jones County cold case investigators seek help solving the 2011 murder of Charles “Charlie” Adcock. Adcock was found shot in the head inside his Ellisville home on June 23, the same day his Waynesboro pawn shop was burglarized. Waynesboro police had requested to check on him but couldn’t reach him; his daughter said Sayto Ford arrived first and found the body. Handguns, cash, and keys to his vehicle and businesses were missing. Witnesses reported a Black woman came to Adcock’s door the night before asking for help, believed to be a decoy. Two men were seen waiting in a sedan, possibly a Pontiac. Investigators suspect gang involvement possibly linked to Adcock’s daughter. Motive may involve money Ford sought from Adcock, which he refused. Anyone with information is urged to call authorities.
