TN organization prepares as Trump blocks birthright citizenship
SUMMARY: President Trump recently ordered federal agencies to stop recognizing birthright citizenship, sparking legal challenges. Immigrant rights groups and several states have filed lawsuits, arguing the move violates the 14th Amendment, which grants citizenship to those born in the U.S. Trump’s directive targets children of undocumented immigrants or temporary visa holders if their father isn’t a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Critics, including the Tennessee Immigrant & Refugee Rights Coalition, argue the policy criminalizes immigrant communities. Governor Bill Lee supported Trump’s stance on deporting undocumented criminals, but only the Supreme Court can decide the constitutionality of the order.

Continued decline in US-Canada relations affecting tourism
SUMMARY: Tensions between the U.S. and Canada, driven by President Trump’s tariffs and remarks about Canada becoming the 51st state, are impacting tourism, especially in Tennessee. The state’s vibrant tourism sector, including attractions like Nashville and Dollywood, is seeing a decline in Canadian visitors. Travel experts report that Canadian tour operators have experienced up to 30% fewer bookings. The U.S. Travel Association notes Canadians contribute over $20 billion annually to the U.S. economy, supporting 140,000 jobs. Experts suggest the decline will continue unless U.S.-Canada relations improve.
