SUMMARY: A federal ban on TikTok took effect in the U.S., preventing millions of users from accessing the app, which was removed from major app stores. Users encountered a message stating, “Sorry, TikTok isn’t available right now,” as the ban was enacted due to national security concerns over its Chinese ownership. The law was signed into effect after Congress passed legislation linking the ban to a foreign aid package. While TikTok’s CEO expressed hope for a resolution through President-elect Trump, the app’s future remains uncertain. TikTok has been ordered to sever ties with ByteDance, or face a nationwide ban.

SUMMARY: The U.S. launched strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites—Fordo, Natanz, and Esfahan—joining Israel’s war against Iran’s nuclear program. Israel sounded missile alerts amid ongoing Iranian barrages. The U.S. used bunker-buster bombs and Tomahawk missiles in the first combat use of the GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator. The conflict risks escalating regionally despite Trump’s reluctance to send ground troops.

Associated Press writers Nasser Karimi in Iran; Mehmet Guzel in Istanbul; Josef Federman in Jerusalem; Samy Magdy in Cairo; Matthew Lee and Josh Boak in Washington; and Farnoush Amiri and Jon Gambrell in Dubai contributed to this report.
