Texas will ‘lean into the pain’ after SEC women’s tourney title game loss
SUMMARY: Texas suffered a 64-45 defeat against South Carolina in the SEC women’s basketball tournament championship, primarily due to a poor second quarter where they were outscored 21-6. The Longhorns managed only three field goals in that period and shot 30% overall. Chloe Kitts led South Carolina with 15 points and nine rebounds. Despite the loss, Texas’s strong season (31-3) is expected to secure them a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament, bolstered by their 14 Quad 1 wins. Head coach Vic Schaefer emphasized the importance of evaluating the season as a whole, while players seek motivation from the loss as they prepare for the upcoming tournament.
