Texas man gets life for sixth DWI; prosecutors say punishment fits the crime | FOX 7 Austin

Elmendorf police officer shoots burglary suspect multiple times; 2 arrested, affidavit says

Smugglers sentenced for roles in over 50 migrant deaths in San Antonio | FOX 7 Austin
SUMMARY: Two smugglers involved in the deadliest human trafficking case in U.S. history were sentenced in San Antonio. Armando Gonzalez Ortega received 83 years, and Filipe Orduno Torres was sentenced to life in prison for smuggling 64 migrants, including children and a pregnant woman, in a tractor trailer without air conditioning through Texas heat. Fifty-three migrants died during the 2022 incident. U.S. authorities emphasized a firm commitment to stopping illegal crossings and warned smugglers that crimes affecting the U.S. will be prosecuted, even if committed abroad.
