Tennessee Bureau of Investigations: Venezuelan gang in every major city in state | Tennessee

Bill Lee about the violent Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua (TdA) operating in major Tennessee cities, engaging in human trafficking and other crimes. Lee underscored the importance of border security in combating this issue. The gang, linked to over 100 investigations nationwide, has escalated crimes such as murder and trafficking since many Venezuelans entered the U.S. illegally. A joint operation in Chattanooga recently arrested four men, including a TdA member, involved in a local sex trafficking ring. Local police are monitoring for TdA activity statewide.

Electrical fire damages Historic Daisy Theatre

Man went to Memphis mayor’s home with taser, rope, and duct tape in car, police say

SUMMARY: Memphis police arrested 25-year-old Trenton Abston after he allegedly attempted to kidnap Mayor Paul Young. Abston reportedly scaled a wall at the mayor’s gated community Sunday night and knocked on his door while wearing gloves and a hoodie. When no one answered, he fled. Surveillance footage and repeated drives by the residence helped police identify him. Inside Abston’s vehicle, officers found a taser, duct tape, rope, and the clothing from the footage. Abston admitted he intended to confront the mayor about crime. He now faces charges including attempted kidnapping. Mayor Young urged an end to hate speech and political violence.
