Lopez remains the only one of five criminally charged individuals still incarcerated. Codefendant Sharon Frederick, who bonded out recently, faces a possible bond revocation due to her fugitive past and pending federal charges, raising concerns she may flee again. Israeli strikes on Gaza kill at least 16 as war rages on after the opening of a new front with Iran
SUMMARY: At least 16 Palestinians were killed in Israeli strikes on Gaza overnight amid the ongoing 20-month war with Hamas. Eleven others died near food distribution points run by an Israeli- and U.S.-supported humanitarian group, as Israeli forces allegedly fired on crowds desperate for aid in military zones off-limits to independent media. The new aid system, intended to replace a U.N.-run network, faces criticism for militarizing aid access and failing to meet growing needs. Since the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel, which killed 1,200 Israelis, Israel’s retaliation has killed over 55,000 Palestinians and displaced 90% of Gaza’s two million residents.
