Summer warmth continues into the mid-week
SUMMARY: Central and Eastern Kentucky enjoyed the warmest day of 2025 so far, with sunshine and highs in the mid-80s on Tuesday, accompanied by some wildfire smoke from western Canada that enhanced sunrises and sunsets without affecting air quality. Wednesday will remain warm and mostly sunny with highs in the mid to upper 80s, but a frontal boundary approaching from the northwest may bring isolated showers late in the day. From Thursday through Saturday, the stalled front will cause repeated showers and thunderstorms, some heavy, raising flood concerns. Rain chances persist into the weekend with cooler highs near 80°F and intermittent dry spells.

Heat and humidity hang tough for a few more days
SUMMARY: The final weekend of July brought continued hot and humid conditions in Central and Eastern Kentucky, with heat index values exceeding 100°. A strong high-pressure ridge kept sunshine and temperatures in the low 90s through midweek. A Heat Advisory remains in effect through Wednesday, with potential isolated afternoon storms offering little relief. By late Wednesday and Thursday, a cold front will bring increased rain chances and lower temperatures into the mid-80s, along with drier, more comfortable air. As August begins, humidity will drop, especially in the Bluegrass region, promising a more pleasant and less muggy start to the month.

Scattered storms this evening, hot through midweek
SUMMARY: Scattered storms are developing north of the metro area this evening, potentially moving southeast and bringing some rain and thunderstorms, especially along the I-71 corridor and northern counties. Despite this, the region remains hot and humid, with a heat index reaching 103°F today and highs in the low to mid-90s continuing through midweek. A heat advisory is in effect through Wednesday due to persistent high heat and humidity, with some areas feeling over 100°F. Relief is expected later this week as a front moves in Thursday, bringing scattered storms, lower humidity, and cooler temperatures by Friday and the weekend.
Chief meteorologist Jay Cardosi talks about widely scattered storm chances on this Sunday evening otherwise staying very hot through Wednesday
