Sugar Bowl between Georgia and Notre Dame postponed after deadly truck attack

Man arrested after shooting at officers, barricading himself
SUMMARY: In Glynn County, Georgia, David Kevin Griffis, 58, was arrested after firing multiple shots at police during a welfare check at a Motel 6 around midnight. No officers were injured; three officers returned fire, and Griffis barricaded himself in his room. After failed negotiations, SWAT used gas to subdue him. Griffis was hospitalized for gas inhalation but had no gunshot wounds. Charged with four counts of aggravated assault on officers, felon firearm possession, and related crimes, authorities found multiple drugs, including marijuana, fentanyl, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, prescription pills, and two handguns in his possession. Open Arms Outreach Augusta offers vital aid to those in need
