Southeastern Grocers donates 1.5 million meals for Hunger Action Month
SUMMARY: During Hunger Action Month, the parent company of Winn-Dixie, Southeastern Grocers Inc, is donating over 1.5 million meals. They will also donate $100,000 to Feeding America and an additional $50,000 to five food banks. To further support those impacted by emergencies, they are launching an in-store Community donation program. Customers can donate by rounding up their grocery bill or giving a dollar or five dollars at Winn-Dixie stores until September 26th. The company aims to help alleviate hunger and aid those in need during this month.

Introducing our WXXV Student Athlete of the Week, St. Patrick’s Parker Talley!
SUMMARY: WXXV’s Student Athlete of the Week is Parker Talley from St. Patrick. A senior swimmer, Parker began swimming in seventh grade and has excelled in multiple events, especially the 500-yard freestyle, where he set a personal best of 5:45.61 at last season’s state championship. He helped St. Patrick win the 2024 South State Championship and earned top finishes in relay races. Academically gifted with a 4.1 GPA and a 35 ACT, Parker was accepted to Mississippi State’s Shackles Honors College for mechanical engineering. He leads as swim team captain and is active in honor societies, archery, and robotics, cherishing his teammates like family.
