www.news4jax.com – Ashley Harding – 2025-06-26 16:35:00

SUMMARY: Jacksonville City Council member Mike Gay introduced a resolution requesting the Florida Commission on Ethics to review General Counsel Michael Fackler’s decision to hire the Bedell law firm for a criminal gun registry case. Concerns arise due to Fackler’s father-in-law, Hank Coxe, being a partner at Bedell, prompting questions about potential conflicts of interest. Mayor Donna Deegan supports seeking ethics rulings as routine. The resolution is under committee review, aiming to ensure legal compliance and transparency.

SUMMARY: The Supreme Court is concluding a term focused on Trump administration emergency appeals, including attempts to deny birthright citizenship to children of undocumented immigrants.
