Scattered showers and storms return Friday & Saturday

Portland man charged after allegedly stealing Pokémon cards in Franklin
SUMMARY: Perry Neisz, 30, from Portland, Tennessee, faces shoplifting charges after allegedly stealing Pokémon cards from a Simpson County Walmart in Franklin, Kentucky. Police were alerted to Neisz hiding merchandise in his jacket and saw him fleeing after being confronted by an employee. Officers stopped Neisz, who denied theft, but a search revealed 34 packages of Pokémon cards valued at over $165, with more cards found in his vehicle, claimed to be purchased from a Tennessee Target. Additionally, police found a meth pipe. Neisz was arrested on multiple charges, including shoplifting, possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, driving on a suspended license, and trespassing.

Unsettled weather pattern set to return to the Bluegrass

Man sentenced to 25 years in Bowling Green sex trafficking case
SUMMARY: Portier Q. Govan, 37, of Memphis, was sentenced to 25 years in prison and 10 years of supervised release for sex trafficking in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Govan and co-defendant Brittany R. Howard, 25, recruited a young victim by exploiting her financial situation with false promises. In August 2022, officers found the victim at a hotel where Govan and Howard forced her into commercial sex, controlling her through threats and violence, including Govan firing a gun near her head. Both were arrested and charged. The FBI and Bowling Green Police jointly investigated the case, leading to Govan’s conviction in December 2024.
