CLEARED: 18-wheeler catches fire on I-10 E in Biloxi, causing congestion
SUMMARY: An 18-wheeler caught fire on I-10 East in Biloxi near mile marker 40, causing significant congestion. The accident, which began in Gulfport and ended in Biloxi, involved the 18-wheeler and a car. Officials have not yet determined the cause of the fire. New law leads to over 100 citations for squatted vehicles during Scrapin the Coast
SUMMARY: During Scrapin’ the Coast in Biloxi and D’Iberville, over 100 citations were issued for illegally squatted vehicles, a first under new state law making such squatting illegal. Lieutenant Candace Young emphasized strong enforcement efforts on traffic laws and acknowledged a period of adjustment as new regulations take hold. Additionally, Biloxi police towed 60 vehicles during the event. Ticket numbers were down overall compared to previous years despite the new citations for squatting.
Squatted vehicles are those that have been modified to have their front fender four or more inches higher than the rear fender.
