Iran launches missiles at US military base in Qatar in retaliation for American bombing
SUMMARY: Iran launched a limited missile attack on the U.S. military base at Al Udeid in Qatar, retaliating for recent U.S. strikes on its nuclear sites. The U.S., warned in advance, suffered no casualties. Qatar condemned the attack, intercepting most missiles. Iran aimed to de-escalate tensions despite ongoing Israeli airstrikes targeting symbolic Iranian sites, including prisons and military facilities. Israeli strikes continued, while Iran attacked Israeli cities with missiles and drones. Casualties have mounted in both countries. Russia condemned U.S. and Israeli actions as unprovoked aggression. The conflict reflects escalating regional tensions centered around Iran’s nuclear program and military clashes with Israel and the U.S.

Family of teen killed in Lower Ninth Ward speaks
SUMMARY: Kenneth Smith Jr., a 15-year-old honor student who recently moved to New Orleans from Georgia, was shot and killed in the Lower Ninth Ward after leaving a party on Saint Maurice Avenue. The group he was with was approached by unknown individuals who opened fire. Kenneth was taken to the hospital by his brother but did not survive. His family described him as respectful and trouble-free. The party venue, a home on Saint Maurice Avenue, is allegedly operating illegally as an unpermitted event space, not a registered Airbnb. This location was also linked to a deadly shooting in 2022. A vigil for Kenneth is planned at Harold Park.
