SEC commissioner addresses 3 burning issues in college football
SUMMARY: SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey opened SEC Media Days in Atlanta discussing key topics for the 2025 college football season. He expressed opposition to expanding the College Football Playoff beyond 12 teams, calling 12 the ideal number. Sankey addressed questions about the recent House v. NCAA settlement allowing direct athlete payments but capping roster spending at \$20.5 million for 2025. A major topic is whether the SEC will add a ninth conference game, matching the Big Ten and Big 12’s schedules. A decision is expected soon to finalize the 2026 schedule before the season starts August 23.
