SUMMARY: The Thai army announced the repatriation of 260 individuals believed to be victims of human trafficking, rescued from online scam centers in Myanmar. This operation is part of a crackdown on scams prevalent in Southeast Asia, involving hundreds of thousands coerced into running fraudulent schemes, resulting in billions in losses globally. The rescued individuals hail from 20 countries, including Ethiopia, Kenya, and the Philippines. They were freed by the Democratic Karen Benevolent Army and transferred across the border. Florida appeals court strikes down state’s open carry ban
SUMMARY: A Florida appeals court has struck down the state’s decades-old ban on openly carrying firearms, ruling it unconstitutional under the Second Amendment. The First District Court of Appeals reversed Stanley Victor McDaniels’ conviction, who was arrested for openly carrying a handgun during a 2022 protest. Judge Stephanie Ray’s unanimous panel cited the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2022 Bruen decision, emphasizing historical protections for open carry and rejecting the ban’s constitutionality. Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier supported the ruling. This decision reverses a 2017 Florida Supreme Court ruling and could make Florida the latest state to allow open carry, pending possible further appeals.
