When Nancy Ladner was an assistant coach for the Harrison Central Girls Basketball team back in 2005, the Red Rebelettes beat Meridian in the 5A state championship game.

That was the program’s 13^th gold ball, but also their last gold ball, something that could finally change by this same time tomorrow, with Ladner now serving as the head coach.

One arrested, one wanted in fatal Gulfport shooting

SUMMARY: A fatal shooting occurred in Gulfport on April 28, 2025, when suspects Paul Ravin Martin Jr. and Kevin Eugene James opened fire on individuals in the Holly Circle area. Three victims were injured, and 16-year-old Cobi Earnest later died from gunshot wounds. Martin, 23, was arrested and charged with First-Degree Murder, Shooting into a Dwelling, and three counts of Aggravated Assault. He was out on bond for a previous drive-by shooting.
