Record Warmth Ahead for the Gulf Coast
SUMMARY: Ed Bloodsworth from your First Alert Storm Team forecast reports that temperatures across the Southeast are expected to rise significantly, with highs nearly 10°F above normal. This warm spell is attributed to a ridge of high pressure over the Western Gulf of Mexico and a deep trough moving in. Record-setting temperatures could occur over the next few days, especially on Thursday and Saturday. Local fairs are ongoing, and while daytime highs are projected to reach the upper 80s, pleasant evenings with lows around the upper 50s are expected. Cooler air may arrive early next week, with highs in the lower 80s.
It has been another quiet and warm day on the Gulf Coast. Record. High temperatures are possible over the next few days .
We will keep skies dry with just a few passing clouds this evening. Expect temperatures to slowly fall into the ’60s with some locations falling into the upper ’50s by sunrise Thursday. We are set for near record temperatures over the next couple of afternoons. Afternoon highs will reach the upper ’80s Thursday and Friday. A warmer than normal pattern will continue through the weekend and the Gulf Coast will remain dry. A cold front moving through Sunday could knock our temperatures back by early next week.
