SUMMARY: During court proceedings, Attorney John Melnick, under subpoena, addressed the statements made by attorneys Love and Hilton about his representation of client Mr. Copeland. He argued that misunderstandings and misrepresentations regarding whether he acted in Mr. Copeland’s best interests occurred in an ex parte meeting, where crucial questions about his legal representation were raised. Melnick sought to clarify his role and assert that the actions and discussions of the prosecutors impacted the due process and ethical considerations of the court. The judge noted the need for careful considerations regarding the appropriateness of the ex parte meeting and planned further discussions.

Court was back in session on Wednesday.

Sheriff PJ Tanner supports it, stating deputies would access Homeland Security data to check for warrants or charges linked to suspects. Demonstrators expressed concerns about innocent people being caught in deportation processes, increased racial targeting, and local policing resources being diverted from community needs, emphasizing the contributions of immigrants to the local economy.
