Pulaski County town faces scrutiny after fatal overdose
SUMMARY: In Crocker, Missouri, the 2022 overdose death of Jeffrey Pratt Jr. has sparked an ongoing investigation into alleged police negligence and evidence mishandling. Pratt Jr.’s father, Jeffrey Pratt Sr., criticizes the Crocker Police Department’s response, citing delayed reports, untagged evidence, and missing drug tests. Prior to the death, Police Chief Nick Pappas was removed amid claims of retaliation linked to a case involving the mayor’s son, who then became acting chief. Subsequent resignations, firings, and lawsuits have plagued the department. In 2025, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reopened the case to probe potential negligence and evidence tampering. Restaurant raided by feds plans quick comeback as workers face rapid deportation
SUMMARY: A popular restaurant, Golden Apple Buffet, was shut down after federal immigration raids detained dozens of alleged undocumented workers linked to the business. Their attorneys requested time to interview detained workers, who face rapid deportation within seven days, to prepare a defense. Both defendants have lived legally in the U.S. for over a decade. Despite the legal challenges, they plan to reopen the restaurant soon, possibly within a week, and operate other locations in multiple states.
