SUMMARY: As temperatures rise, more people in Central Texas are enjoying pools and lakes, increasing the need for water safety to prevent drownings. Last year, 103 Texas children drowned; 15 have died so far this year. Drowning is a leading accidental death cause for children under five. To improve safety, Pool Scouts donates part of its services to Hope Floats Foundation, which offers 90% scholarships for swim lessons at British Swim School for low-income families. Formal swim lessons can reduce drowning risk by up to 88%. Texas law now requires childcare centers to provide flotation devices if a child cannot swim.

The Writers Guild is urging an investigation into alleged political influence. The show ends in May 2026.
