New Orleans mayor indicted over allegations of trying to hide relationship with bodyguard
SUMMARY: New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell was indicted for conspiracy, fraud, and obstruction in a scheme to conceal a romantic relationship with her bodyguard, Jeffrey Vappie, who was allegedly paid for fake work during private meetings and trips. The 18-count indictment reveals encrypted WhatsApp messages showing their personal relationship and efforts to delete evidence and mislead investigators. Vappie already faced wire fraud charges. Prosecutors say Cantrell lied about deleting messages and misused city funds for travel. Cantrell denies wrongdoing, claiming racial bias. She is the city’s first mayor charged in office, with her final term ending soon amid political struggles and declining support.

Volk contacted Guilford via Facebook, reuniting him with the long-lost family treasure. Despite exposure to harsh conditions, the wallet remained remarkably intact. American composer’s ‘Baby Shark’ copyright claim is rejected by South Korea’s Supreme Court
SUMMARY: South Korea’s Supreme Court rejected American composer Jonathan Wright’s $21,600 damage claim against Pinkfong, ending a six-year legal battle over the “Baby Shark” song. Wright alleged Pinkfong plagiarized his 2011 version, but courts ruled both versions derived from a traditional folk melody, with Wright’s lacking sufficient originality for copyright protection. The Supreme Court upheld that Pinkfong’s rendition, released in 2015, added distinct elements, confirming it as a separate work based on a public domain chant. Pinkfong’s “Baby Shark” became a global hit with over 16 billion YouTube views, generating significant revenue and spawning various media adaptations.
