SUMMARY: Alabama faces one final round of scattered showers and storms today as a front moves through, mainly late morning to early afternoon, with a marginal risk of strong storms producing gusty winds or hail in areas from Gadsden to Birmingham and southward. Early morning commutes will mostly be dry, with rain tapering off by late afternoon and skies clearing afterward. Cooler, dry air arriving behind the front will drop evening temperatures into the 50s, making for a pleasant night. Saturday and Sunday are forecast to be mostly sunny, dry, and comfortable with highs in the upper 70s to mid-80s, and lower humidity.

SUMMARY: Members of Mobile-based refugee charity Dwell are working to sustain services amid major federal funding cuts after the Trump administration suspended the U.S. refugee resettlement program. The group lost one grant and anticipates losing another from the Department of Health and Human Services, which made up about 80% of their funding. Despite expected service reductions, Dwell remains committed to helping refugees legally resettled in the U.S., highlighting their resilience and need for safety. To raise funds, they held a rummage sale and are seeking city approval to open a thrift store, aiming to continue supporting the refugee community locally.
