Morning Forecast – Wednesday, June 4th
SUMMARY: Scattered showers and weakening thunderstorms are moving across parts of northeast Louisiana and southern Arkansas this morning, mainly near Magnolia, Camden, and El Dorado. The stalled frontal boundary to the northwest is limiting further eastward rain, so isolated showers may continue but rain chances remain low today. Temperatures are in the low 70s with muggy conditions and calm southeast winds. By Friday, temperatures will rise into the mid-90s with increased humidity, signaling the start of summer. A cold front will bring a higher chance of storms, possibly severe with gusty winds and small hail, especially in central Arkansas, over the weekend. Early next week will see cooler temperatures in the upper 80s.
A frontal boundary has stalled to the northwest where showers and thunderstorms have been ongoing. The rain will phase out due to the front stalling. Clouds will break apart for us later this evening, and rain chances will remain minimum. As we still between systems, isolated thunderstorms cannot be ruled out through tomorrow. A cold front will swing through closer towards Friday, where more storms are likely across Arkansas. Best chances for Louisiana will come late Saturday. Temperatures will stay very but cool down slightly into next week with more unsettled weather.

SUMMARY: Between January 2020 and December 2023, the Jefferson Parish Office of Inspector General audited the East Bank Consolidated Fire Department (EBCFD) and found that 78 employees received pay for off-duty injuries or illnesses, costing over $3 million. The audit highlighted issues such as payments made without verifying employee negligence or sufficient medical documentation, payments extending beyond the allowed 52 weeks, and improper use of workers’ compensation claims to validate leave eligibility. The report recommended establishing a structured claims process, reviewing sick leave policies, stopping the use of workers’ compensation for eligibility, adopting anti-abuse policies, and implementing signed medical release forms.
