SUMMARY: This morning, expect wet conditions with scattered showers mainly east of Highway 165. Rain is likely to persist throughout the day, particularly east of Monroe, with heavier activity noted around I20. Temperatures are in the mid-70s, with highs around 80-81 expected. An unstable atmosphere and moist conditions will keep the clouds and rain in place. Caution is advised for travel as localized flash flooding may occur, especially in lower areas. A cold front will arrive late Friday, bringing drier and cooler conditions for the weekend. Next week, temperatures could drop to the mid-50s, with chances of storms by Wednesday.

Scattered showers have lingered overnight and will still be ongoing throughout the morning. A few upper-level disturbances will continue to keep most of the atmosphere unstable enabling more showers and a few t-storms throughout the day. More rain is likely overnight through early tomorrow before a cold front arrives allowing for cooler and drier air to sink into place. This will make for a pleasant weekend. By next Monday, overnight lows could fall to the mid 50’s. More seasonal temperatures will return by the middle of next week.

SUMMARY: Since early 2025, The Current has investigated Lafayette Parish School System’s (LPSS) construction projects and potential conflicts of interest involving top officials and contractors. Meet Lucy, Chuck, Willie & Margaret — aka lovebugs.

SUMMARY: Frank Davis humorously introduces lovebugs—named Lucy, Chuck, Willie, and Margaret—as pesky insects common twice yearly in his region, especially attracted to white surfaces. They swarm in spring and fall, covering cars with dead bugs, often leading to clogged radiators and damaged paint. Lovebugs don’t fly at night and are less likely to accumulate if you drive slowly. Each female lays about 350 eggs, and they remember and return to familiar spots yearly. Despite local myths about genetic engineering, they’re native and spreading. The best advice: regularly wash cars to quickly remove them and protect paint.
