SUMMARY: Meteorologist Chase Ward reports clear, chilly conditions this morning with temperatures in the mid-30s. As the day progresses, temperatures will warm into the 40s and 50s, with winds calming down. A high-pressure system will keep weather quiet in the short term, though cooler temperatures are expected. Tomorrow will be mostly sunny, with temperatures rising into the mid-60s, and Sunday will push into the 70s. The following week will bring above-average warmth, but cooling is expected post-Thanksgiving with a potential cool down and rain by Wednesday and Thursday. A more seasonal pattern will return by next weekend.

Temperatures have cooled down and become quite chilly. Many places in south Arkansas are flirting with freezing temperatures. Frost will be possible. Dry conditions will continue through the weekend as high pressure shifts further east. Winds will start to shift southerly allowing for warmer moist air to flow back into the region. By Monday, we will be above average with daytime clouds. Our next chances for rain will likely come late Monday night with more rain possible through next week and on Thanksgiving. Temperatures will at least fall back to more seasonal levels before the week is out.

SUMMARY: Since early 2025, The Current has investigated Lafayette Parish School System’s (LPSS) construction projects and potential conflicts of interest involving top officials and contractors. Meet Lucy, Chuck, Willie & Margaret — aka lovebugs.

SUMMARY: Frank Davis humorously introduces lovebugs—named Lucy, Chuck, Willie, and Margaret—as pesky insects common twice yearly in his region, especially attracted to white surfaces. They swarm in spring and fall, covering cars with dead bugs, often leading to clogged radiators and damaged paint. Lovebugs don’t fly at night and are less likely to accumulate if you drive slowly. Each female lays about 350 eggs, and they remember and return to familiar spots yearly. Despite local myths about genetic engineering, they’re native and spreading. The best advice: regularly wash cars to quickly remove them and protect paint.
