SUMMARY: Tonight, Missouri executed Chris Collings for the 2007 rape and murder of 9-year-old Rowan Ford, a case that drew national attention. Collings, 49, was pronounced dead by lethal injection at 6:10 PM. He confessed to kidnapping, assaulting, and strangling Rowan. Controversially, her stepfather, David Spears, who reportedly admitted his involvement and led authorities to her body, received lesser charges and was released in 2015. While some law enforcement officials support the execution, organizations condemning the death penalty argue that it does not bring healing to Rowan’s family. Collings’ execution marks Missouri’s fourth of the year.

A Missouri man has been executed for sexually assaulting and killing a 9-year-old girl, then dumping her body in a sinkhole outside of town.

SUMMARY: As a federal ban takes effect, millions of TikTok users in the U.S. can no longer access the app, with its removal from major app stores and a shutdown of the service. Users receive a message stating “Sorry, TikTok isn’t available right now,” following a law passed by Congress over national security concerns regarding the app’s Chinese ownership. The ruling was backed by the Supreme Court, which authorized the ban, and President-elect Trump suggested a possible 90-day extension to negotiate TikTok’s future. Meanwhile, TikTok’s owner, ByteDance, faces pressure but has not confirmed plans to sell the app.
