Mississippi Stories: Langston Moore

According to the USDA ERA, 15% of Mississippi households in 2020 were experiencing food insecurity. In 2018, one in four Mississippi walked around hungry. Hunger is an invisible problem that affects so much and so many.

On this episode of , Mississippi Editor At Large Marshall Ramsey is joined by Langston Moore, who serves as the Regional Director for Society of St. Andrew — Mississippi, an organization that gleans leftover food from farmers and gets it into the hands of those across the who are feeding the hungry.

From January to July of 2022, 715,814 pounds of food has been gleaned and distributed providing 2,863,256 servings of nutritious food. 19-year-old charged in Jackson murder appears in court

Charge downgraded for teen charged in death of 14-year-old in Jackson

SUMMARY: A 15-year-old boy, Siyaski Crawford, had his murder charge downgraded to accessory after the fact to murder in connection to the killing of 14-year-old Cameron Horne-Crook in , Mississippi. Crawford's bond was set at $75,000, with a curfew of 6:00 p.m. and a requirement to attend school. Two other teenagers, Maxle Mooneyham, and John Foote, were charged with murder in the case, with Mooneyham's bond set at $1.5 million and Foote denied bond. Crawford admitted to detectives that he and Mooneyham Horne-Crook's body from a vehicle after he was shot multiple times.

No bond for man charged in O’Bannon Drive homicide

SUMMARY: Martine Dewayne Maberry, the in a fatal shooting on O'Bannon in , appeared in court and was denied bond after being deemed a danger to the community. Maberry was by a Pearl officer on March 14 for a traffic violation, where it was discovered he was wanted for murder. The shooting occurred on March 9, with the victim being shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene. Maberry has been charged with murder and is currently held in the Detention Center pending further legal proceedings.
