The Legislative Special Session was called to create incentives for a major economic development project in the Golden Triangle.

The Mississippi Legislature passed three bills to provide nearly $250 million in economic incentives to an aluminum production facility in Lowndes County, during a one-day special session Wednesday.

The company plans to invest $2.5 billion into the area, the largest economic development in the state’s history, and according to its agreement with the state the project will employ 1,000 people with an average salary of $93,000.
