It was a Mississippi father and son’s first alligator hunt and what was intended to be a trip to gain experience ended with a beast measuring more than 12 feet and weighing over 600 pounds.
“I didn’t have any intentions of that,” said Jody Blakeney of Smith County. “It was my first time going.
“I wasn’t trophy hunting. I was just trying to get my feet wet.”
