SUMMARY: A massive brush fire in South Miami-Dade is now 50% contained after reinforcements arrived. Over 26,000 acres have burned, surpassing the size of California’s Palisades fire. Despite clearer conditions this morning, dry weather and strong winds have hindered firefighting efforts. Helicopter crews and fire-stopping chemicals are being used to contain the flames. Traffic disruptions have been severe, especially along US1, affecting commutes and events. Cardtown Road has been closed since Tuesday. A road rage incident occurred during the backup, resulting in an arrest. The fire is expected to burn throughout the weekend, with ongoing updates.

Florida officials say the southwest Miami-Dade brush fire is 50% contained. This is starting to impact people’s commutes vacations, and events around southwest Miami-Dade.

SUMMARY: The NAACP plans to sue Elon Musk’s AI company xAI over pollution from gas turbines at a Memphis supercomputer site near predominantly Black communities. The facility began operating without a permit, now under review, that would authorize 15 turbines—though 35 may be present. xAI says emissions-reducing tech is in place and highlights economic benefits, including \$115 million in infrastructure investments. However, environmental groups argue the turbines violate the Clean Air Act, worsen cancer risks already four times the national average, and strain the local power grid. A petition has been filed with the EPA to halt the operation.

How else could Iran retaliate over the ongoing Israeli strikes targeting the country?

Published

www.clickorlando.com – Jon Gambrell, Associated Press – 2025-06-17 04:22:00

SUMMARY: As Israel conducts airstrikes on Iran’s military and nuclear sites, Tehran proposes retaliatory options beyond missile attacks, echoing past strategies. These include disrupting shipping through the Strait of Hormuz—a critical global oil route—potentially causing energy market shocks. Iran could also withdraw from the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty, abandoning IAEA oversight and escalating nuclear efforts, risking U.S. intervention. Additionally, Iran might increase asymmetric attacks via allied militant groups targeting Israeli interests, although these proxies have weakened recently. These responses carry significant risks, potentially destabilizing the Middle East and global markets, while Iran seeks to avoid direct conflict with the U.S.
