SUMMARY: After a long drought, there is finally rainfall and thunderstorms in the area. The drought has persisted for a long time, but the recent rainfall has brought some relief. Showers are currently over the Gulf Coast and heavy rainfall is in central Mississippi. The forecast shows a string of rainy days next week, with Monday and Tuesday having an 80% chance of rain. This is expected to bring a significant improvement to the drought conditions. The moisture is also expected to put out a marsh fire in Southern Louisiana. Overall, the forecast shows a positive change in the weather after a long dry spell.

Friday November 10th, 2023: A cold front has been slowly inching its way through the local area today and currently stretches along the I-59 corridor southwestward to near the mouth of the Atchafalaya River. The front will continue to sink southward through tomorrow morning, eventually stalling over the northern Gulf. Upper flow will become parallel to the boundary, and will stop its’ forward momentum. Despite the surface boundary moving into the Gulf, winds off the surface will continue to have a southerly component to them, with the 850mb front stalling out over northern Louisiana and central Mississippi. This will result in continued isentropic upglide through the remainder of the weekend and should keep conditions cloudy and cool with occasional light rain. As always: A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition. Be nice to each other. – Meteorologist Trey Tonnessen

www.youtube.com – WLOX News – 2025-06-15 21:39:05

SUMMARY: Scattered showers and storms continued across South Mississippi over Father’s Day weekend and are expected to persist into Monday and Tuesday. A waterspout came ashore near Gulfport and Long Beach, quickly dissipating. While rain chances taper off overnight, daytime heating will fuel more storms early this week, with possible localized flooding due to saturated ground. A pattern shift later in the week will reduce storm coverage but increase temperatures. Highs will reach the low 90s on the coast and mid-90s inland by the weekend. Despite the heat, the tropics remain quiet with no development expected over the next seven days.

Meteorologist Taylor Graham has the latest on this week’s chances for rain and the upcoming forecast.
