Meet Lupe: Zoo Atlanta’s colorful toco toucan | FOX 5 News
SUMMARY: Zoo Atlanta welcomes Lupe, a colorful toco toucan—the largest toucan species native to South America. Lupe mainly eats fruit but also catches insects midair. Visitors can see her in the free-flight bird show, Fantastic Flights, featured during the upcoming Savannah Nights adult-only events in June, July, and August. This weekend, Zoo Atlanta hosts a family-friendly Neighborhood Block Party with discounted admission, inflatable slides, and bubble entertainment. The toco toucan’s distinctive blue eye ring helps camouflage her shape from predators. Zoo Atlanta offers many exciting events and animal encounters for all ages throughout the summer.
Lupe is one of the brightest birds taking wing during Zoo Atlanta’s Fantastic Flights. She and Becky Young joined Joanne Feldman to talk about all the fun events coming to the zoo this June.

UPDATE: Departure delayed for plane taking South Korean workers back
SUMMARY: A South Korean charter plane landed in Atlanta to repatriate Korean workers detained in a Sept. 4 U.S. immigration raid at a Hyundai battery plant in Georgia. Over 300 South Koreans were among 475 workers arrested, sparking outrage in South Korea. Despite agreements for their release, the workers remain detained; South Korea is negotiating for voluntary departures to avoid bans on returning to the U.S. The raid highlights visa system issues, as many workers used short-term or expired visas. South Korean officials seek new visa quotas for skilled workers amid rising tensions with the U.S. over immigration enforcement.

New Mayor James Williams, unaware of the resignations before taking office, acknowledged ongoing communication issues and pledged to rebuild trust and community involvement. Currently, Saluda County deputies patrol the town amid staffing shortages. The focus is now on restaffing town hall and restoring cooperation within the small community.
