Marcos Lopez arrest: Owner of club named in RICO document
SUMMARY: Marcos Lopez, suspended Osceola County Sheriff, is accused of running an illegal gambling ring centered at the Eclipse Social Club in Kissimmee. The club’s owner, Krishna de Caron, faces a racketeering complaint and had $139,000 seized from the club and \$1 million seized from his bank accounts. Investigators allege Caron told employees not to worry about law enforcement and even reported burglaries himself. Undercover agents gathered evidence over months. Employees like Sharon Frederick admitted handling money for multiple illegal gambling clubs owned by Caron, with weekly earnings up to $200,000. Others involved include accountant Carroll Cote and LLC creator Sheldon Weatherholt, who withdrew when realizing the illegality. The property owner denied involvement.
The owner of the Eclipse Social Club, which allegedly housed the illegal gambling former Sheriff Marcos Lopez was arrested in connection with, was named in new RICO documents. FOX 35’s Marie Edinger investigates his connection to the alleged gambling crimes.

Supreme Court has 6 cases to decide, including birthright citizenship
SUMMARY: The Supreme Court is concluding a term focused on Trump administration emergency appeals, including attempts to deny birthright citizenship to children of undocumented immigrants. Justices are set to rule on six major cases, such as limiting nationwide injunctions that block federal policies and a religious rights dispute over LGBTQ-themed schoolbooks in Maryland. They will also revisit Louisiana’s congressional district maps amid Voting Rights Act debates and consider a Texas law requiring age verification for online pornography, balancing child protection with adult free speech rights. These cases reflect ongoing tensions over executive power, religious freedom, voting rights, and internet regulation.

In 2024, there were 61.2 million older adults versus 73.1 million children, narrowing the gap. The number of states where older adults outnumber children increased from three in 2020 to eleven in 2024, and nearly half of U.S. counties now have more older adults than children, mostly in less populated areas. The median U.S. age hit a record 39.1 in 2024, with Maine being the oldest state and Utah the youngest. Women slightly outnumber men nationwide.

South Florida woman says she has received five speeding tickets in the mail
SUMMARY: A South Florida woman, Peggy Hernandez from Opa Locka, received five speeding tickets via mail for exceeding school zone speed limits, totaling $500. She was cited at various times, not always during designated school zone hours. Miami-Dade County confirms cameras enforce speed all day, issuing $100 fines if driving over 10 mph above limits outside reduced speed periods. Sixty dollars from each fine fund speed detection and public safety, with the rest supporting schools and law enforcement. Hernandez urges easier payment options and extended deadlines. The cameras will continue monitoring speeds through the summer session until July 25, then pause until the new school year.
