Man shot during altercation with officers outside Cy-Fair ISD administration building
SUMMARY: A fight broke out outside the Cypress Fairbanks ISD Winfern Annex after a car crash. District police approached the driver of the crashed vehicle, and the driver became agitated, attacking an officer. During the struggle, shots were fired. A second vehicle stopped and became involved in the altercation. A passing Harris County Sheriff’s deputy saw the fight and intervened, but was also injured. All parties were taken to the hospital but are expected to recover. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is assisting with the investigation, which is ongoing to determine the exact sequence of events.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the call dropped at 10:19 a.m. Sunday. The incident happened outside the Cy-Fair ISD Windfern Annex on Windfern Rd. and Perry Rd.

Unvaccinated adult, child test positive for measles in North Texas
SUMMARY: Two unvaccinated individuals, an adult and a child living in the same household, tested positive for measles in Tarrant County, North Texas, marking the county’s first cases of the year. These contagious patients visited Methodist Mansfield ER on April 29-30, and exposure also occurred at a Walmart in Frisco. Texas is experiencing a rise in measles cases, with over 680 reported since January, mostly in West Texas. Health officials stress the importance of vaccination, noting the measles vaccine is 97% effective with two doses. They urge high-risk groups to self-monitor and seek medical care if symptoms appear.

An adult and a child tested positive for measles in Tarrant County this week. Doctors are now working to investigate others who could have been exposed. Hundreds of cases of measles have been reported in Texas this year.

Gov. Abbott signs school choice bill into law
