Police searching for man after Metro East chase into north St. Louis
SUMMARY: A police chase that began in Metro East ended early this morning in north St. Louis after shots were fired. Granite City and Madison City police pursued a white pickup truck with Texas plates, reaching speeds of up to 100 mph and crossing the McKinley Bridge. The chase ended at Broadway and Cavalry, where the truck spun out and struck two police vehicles. Shots were fired from the truck before the driver fled on foot. No injuries were reported, but a Madison police unit was damaged. Authorities are still searching for the suspect, with no detailed description available.

The pursuit reportedly began in Granite City overnight Monday morning when officers attempted to stop a white pickup truck with Texas license plates for a traffic issue. When the driver of the pickup truck did not pull over, a chase reportedly ensued with the Madison City police joining in before it crossed over the McKinley Bridge into north St. Louis.
