Long Beach resident Brian Currie and his family of five were in Tampa, Florida to support Mississippi State as they played in a bowl game against Illinois Monday.

Currie, a Mississippi State alum, has always supported the dawgs when it comes to sports. The football players seemed focused on winning in honor of Coach Mike Leach, who died December 12^th.

A photo was placed on the Pirate Ship at Raymond James Stadium and flags with Leach’s name waved all around the field.

One arrested, one wanted in fatal Gulfport shooting

SUMMARY: A fatal shooting occurred in Gulfport on April 28, 2025, when suspects Paul Ravin Martin Jr. and Kevin Eugene James opened fire on individuals in the Holly Circle area. Three victims were injured, and 16-year-old Cobi Earnest later died from gunshot wounds. Martin, 23, was arrested and charged with First-Degree Murder, Shooting into a Dwelling, and three counts of Aggravated Assault. He was out on bond for a previous drive-by shooting.
