SUMMARY: James Jones, a Laurel County resident, spoke out at a London city council meeting after playing a recorded phone call where a council member appeared to coach him into attacking Mayor Randall Weddle. The revelation caused chaos, with council members leaving and the audience escorted out. Jones had initially planned to bash the mayor but changed his view after discussing the mayor with a business contact. Faced with a dilemma, Jones decided to share the recording to reveal the truth. He believes this transparency is essential, especially after the police shooting of Doug Harless and growing community frustration.

“It’s one of the hardest things that I had to do, is to stand up and be able to tell the truth Monday night,” he said while recalling the moment.
