SUMMARY: Susie Harville of Advocates for Freedom is working to raise awareness about human trafficking, a crime affecting 42 million victims worldwide. The organization’s upcoming fundraiser, the Wild West Winging event, aims to highlight this issue. The Gulf Coast’s location along the I-10 Corridor makes it a hotspot for trafficking, with predators targeting vulnerable individuals. Carrie Helel, an advocate with firsthand experience, emphasizes the importance of recognizing signs of trafficking, including psychological manipulation and the exploitation of both youth and the elderly. The event, set for Saturday, will raise funds and educate the public on the growing issue of human trafficking.

The ‘Wild West Wingding’ should be a fun time, but the reason for the event is hardly a laughing matter.

SUMMARY: Two men from Saucier, Cameron Coffman and Christopher Bunch, were arrested and charged with distributing fentanyl that caused a fatal overdose on June 7 in Harrison County. Deputies and the Harrison County Narcotics Task Force responded to the overdose on Saucier-Lizana Road, where a 35-year-old man was found dead with fentanyl in his possession. The investigation led to the arrests, which involved D’Iberville Police, Homeland Security, and the DEA. The charges are filed under Parker’s Law, passed in 2022, which imposes harsher sentences for anyone distributing fentanyl that results in an overdose death.

A search warrant was executed at two different locations in Saucier, and Coffman and Bunch were arrested.
