NIOSH operations not yet back to normal following court order, attorney says
SUMMARY: Attorney Sam Peton, a long-time advocate for coal miners, states that NIOSH operations are still not fully restored following conflicts with the government. While some workers have returned, most remain on administrative leave, preventing critical Mine Act programs from running due to contract delays and funding issues. Recently, a federal judge granted a preliminary injunction allowing NIOSH to assist miners with healthcare concerns, which Peton sees as progress. However, more work is needed to resume all programs fully. With layoffs increasing due to international tariff wars, miners urgently need access to essential health services like X-rays.

An attorney in the case said operations have not yet returned to normal at NIOSH following a court injunction in the case.

Wyoming County community stands strong in solidarity in fight for clean water
SUMMARY: In Wyoming County, clean water has long been a struggle due to contamination of wells by sulfate-reducing bacteria, methane, and heavy metals. A local partnership with the Mountaineer Food Bank now delivers bottled water every two weeks to support affected families in areas like Indian Creek and Brenton. Volunteers, including Richard Altiser, manage the costly transport and distribution, providing critical relief for those unable to drink, cook, or bathe safely. Community leaders emphasize the resilience of West Virginians facing resource challenges. A major court hearing Monday may advance a long-term solution, offering hope to families fighting to stay on their land.
