Joe's Blog: Rain on the way (FRI-5/16)
SUMMARY: May in Kansas City is running warmer than average—ranking 51st warmest start—but notably dry with only 0.58″ of rain, placing it among the driest starts despite May usually being the wettest month. Drought conditions have expanded into northwest Missouri, but increasing storms from Sunday through Monday night could bring relief. Two main severe weather windows are expected: Sunday night into early Monday, and Monday evening into Tuesday night, with hail and strong winds as primary threats, and a smaller tornado risk. The forecast is uncertain for Tuesday, with potential rain and storms possible. Cooler, cloudier weather is expected midweek before conditions stabilize later.
