Published

fox2now.com – RONALD BLUM, Associated Press – 2025-07-16 01:50:00

SUMMARY: Kyle Schwarber, despite nerves, hit three home runs in the first-ever All-Star Game swing-off, helping the National League win 7-6 after a 6-6 tie with the American League. Schwarber, who didn’t get a hit during the game but earned MVP, overcame a two-homer deficit in the swing-off, which MLB introduced in 2022 to address pitcher usage limits. The NL’s victory came after a late AL comeback erased a six-run deficit. The new swing-off format, similar to a soccer shootout, had each side’s batters take three swings each. The game also featured fast pitching, a robot umpire debut, and a return to regular-season jerseys.

SUMMARY: A woman who died in a suspicious fire on Kingston Court was previously rescued from another fire just two days earlier on Telford in South County. Both fires are considered suspicious and involved homes owned by the same person. The woman, aged 66, succumbed to injuries following the Kingston Court fire, which police believe was intentionally set. Her 81-year-old companion also died. The grandson, Ryan Rose, was arrested for setting the Telford fire, charged with arson, but no arrests have been made yet for the Kingston Court blaze.
