SUMMARY: During Scrapin’ the Coast in Biloxi and D’Iberville, over 100 citations were issued for illegally squatted vehicles, a first under new state law making such squatting illegal. The Biloxi Police Department reported 406 total citations for the event’s Friday and Saturday, with 120 for squatted vehicles, accounting for 30% of tickets written. Lieutenant Candace Young emphasized strong enforcement efforts on traffic laws and acknowledged a period of adjustment as new regulations take hold. U.S. Supreme Court denies petition from Mississippi death row inmate, execution set for Wednesday

www.youtube.com – WLOX News – 2025-06-23 11:17:34

SUMMARY: The U.S. Supreme Court has denied a petition filed by Mississippi death row inmate Richard Gerald Jordan, declining to review the lower court’s decision in his case. Jordan had requested an emergency stay of execution, challenging the state’s lethal injection protocol. His attorneys also appealed to the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, which similarly denied a request to block the execution. With no further legal obstacles, Richard Gerald Jordan’s execution is scheduled for Wednesday. The Supreme Court did not provide a reason for its decision to deny the petition, effectively allowing the state’s plans to proceed.

Richard Gerald Jordan was sentenced to death for the kidnapping and killing of Edwina Marter in 1976 in Harrison County.
