Reported shark attack on HHI
SUMMARY: On Hilton Head Island, HHIFR responded to a medical emergency involving a possible shark bite. Shore Beach Services and HHIFR provided care, deeming the injury non-life threatening before the person was airlifted to Savannah. According to the Georgia Aquarium, shark bites are rare, with humans not considered prey. If you spot a shark while swimming, stay calm, exit the water, maintain eye contact, and stick together if in a group. Most attacks are curiosity-driven; never feed or touch sharks. Warning signs of aggression include specific swimming patterns and low-light activity. Remember, shark attacks are far less likely than other beach hazards.

Storms leave behind down trees, debris
SUMMARY: Storms caused downed trees and power outages, notably in East Point where a tree blocked roads and hit power lines. The severe thunderstorms earlier moved out by evening, leaving dry conditions overnight. While showers may return tomorrow, they are expected to be fewer and less severe. Severe weather warnings, including tornado alerts, persist in parts of Oklahoma and Kansas, but the strongest storms will stay north. Thursday brings a new front and a level 1 risk of storms, followed by drier weather Friday through the weekend with highs near 93-94°F and low rain chances early next week.
