Jay’s 11 p.m. Weather for Friday 08/01/25
SUMMARY: Patchy fog is affecting late Friday evening and early Saturday morning, especially near Glen Gene and Route 19. Beckley Airport’s instruments mistakenly detect fog as rain. Current temperatures include 63°F in Beckley, 73°F in Charlotte, and 75°F in Atlanta. Cool air from the northeast is causing clouds and low temperatures, with some showers south near I-77 and the I-95 corridor. Isolated showers are expected Saturday and Sunday, mainly south of Beckley into southwestern Virginia. Highs will stay in the mid to upper 70s, below normal. Rain returns Tuesday with highs nearing 80°F in some areas.
The weather is foggy tonight around the region, and the moisture stays with us for most of the weekend. But it will be cooler than what we’ve seen recently.

Jay's Evening Weather for Thursday 07/31/25
SUMMARY: Jay’s Evening Weather for Thursday 07/31/25 reports southern West Virginia is currently very warm at 91°F with a heat index near 99°F, recently peaking at 101°F. Partly cloudy skies prevail with 56% humidity and light northwest winds. A front northwest of the region is causing showers and thunderstorms particularly in northern counties like Nicholas, Fayette, and Raleigh. These storms may become strong tonight with some heavy rain possible near Charleston, warranting flash flood monitoring. Temperatures elsewhere range from mid-70s to upper 80s, with lows in the 60s overnight. Rain persists into Friday, ending by weekend, leading to cooler, more pleasant days ahead.
More showers and storms are coming into the area thanks to a front, but in addition to giving us rain, the front will also cool us off quite a bit.
