SUMMARY: Fourteen individuals are indicted for allegedly funding North Korea’s nuclear program through a scheme involving remote IT work in the U.S. The suspects reportedly used stolen or borrowed U.S. identities to secure jobs, generating $88 million over six years. The FBI linked one laptop, used to funnel money back to North Korea, to St. Louis. While some identities were stolen from the dark web, others were provided by U.S. domestic enablers. FBI officials urge businesses to thoroughly vet remote IT applicants to prevent further infiltration, as they suspect more North Korean nationals may be operating within U.S. companies.

Additionally, historical data shows the 1930s were the hottest and driest decade, contributing to the Dust Bowl. This correlation between extreme heat and drought remains a key aspect of regional climate patterns.
