SUMMARY: Kentucky’s Republican lawmakers recently overrode the governor’s veto to reinstate landlords’ rights to reject federal housing voucher users, while also convening a session focusing on reducing the individual income tax rate and limiting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs at universities. The proposed tax cut aims to lower the rate to 3.5% by 2026, reversing previous measures under Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear. SUMMARY: Misty Knoll’s guilty plea to theft and tax evasion connected to Jamie Knoll’s crimes is now in question after Judge Medlock watched her TV interview. The judge filed an order potentially setting aside her plea, noting Knoll’s claims during the interview that she did not knowingly and intentionally commit the crimes. In the interview, she expressed remorse but denied intentional wrongdoing, contradicting her guilty plea. This development may lead to Knoll facing a jury trial. Her attorney now must argue against contempt of court charges for making these public statements. The timing of any trial remains uncertain.
