Impact day for more fog and looking ahead to Mardi Gras
SUMMARY: A dense fog advisory will be in effect from midnight until 10 AM, reducing visibility to a quarter mile or less. Temperatures will be in the 40s to 60s, with a chilly start and plenty of sun expected after the fog clears. Highs will reach the mid-70s. Thursday may see a weak front with some cloud cover and a slight chance of rain. Mardi Gras festivities will likely experience isolated storms, with chances increasing into the evening. Temperatures will remain comfortable, but a breeze may pick up later in the week, with cooler temperatures by Friday.
Meteorologist Devon Lucie starts with the forecast for the postponed parades from Sunday then jumps right into the high resolution forecast showing where dense fog is likeliest Wednesday morning and how much warmer we’ll be by the afternoon while tracking our next cold front showing when it arrives and what it brings in the way of showers and possible thunderstorms and how much cooler we’ll get after it’s through. He then jumps right into the Lundi Gras and Mardi Gras forecast showing when and where rain is likeliest right now and where temperatures will be through all of Carnival weekend.

How would a tax for Johnston Street work? – The Current
SUMMARY: With City Council approval of a road ownership swap, Lafayette’s revitalization of Bertrand Drive and Johnston Street is moving forward. Funding remains unresolved, with Councilman Andy Naquin proposing an Economic Development District (EDD) to impose an extra sales tax on businesses in the area. Mayor-President Monique Boulet agreed to explore the EDD but emphasized the need for more analysis and stakeholder input. Though controversial, especially among businesses, EDDs could support infrastructure upgrades, with Johnston Street receiving \$5 million in initial state funding. Naquin hopes to finalize EDD boundaries by year’s end, framing it as a potential public-private partnership.
