Impact Day: Dense Fog Advisory
SUMMARY: Dense fog is affecting visibility across the region, prompting a dense fog advisory until 9 a.m., particularly impacting the North Shore and waterways. While the Crescent City Connection bridge remains clear, visibility in some areas is as low as a fourth of a mile. Temperatures are in the 40s and 50s, about ten degrees cooler than the previous day, but are expected to warm to the low to mid-70s by afternoon. Winds are calm, contributing to fog persistence. A weather system will bring cooler air and a shift in wind direction starting Tuesday night, leading into a cooler outlook for early January.
Dense fog will blanket Southeast Louisiana this morning. After that, expect partly cloudy skies with highs in the 70s. Cooler conditions to start 2025.

AI technology causes controversy ahead of Crowley Rice Festival
SUMMARY: The 88th International Rice Festival poster sparked controversy after its AI-assisted design was criticized as generic and lacking local artistic soul. Created by local artist Cris (ZEPPIX), the poster incorporated AI tools but also involved substantial handwork, original drawings, and close collaboration with festival president Julian Leblanc. Critics argued the design lacked color and realism, while supporters praised its beauty and modern appeal. The debate reflects broader concerns about AI’s impact on traditional artists, with veteran artist Tony Bernard emphasizing art’s creative ideas AI cannot replicate. Despite backlash, Cris defends her work, affirming AI complements but doesn’t replace traditional art.
