SUMMARY: The 2025 Atlantic hurricane season begins today and runs through November, with experts predicting an above-average storm season. Preparation is crucial, as storms like Hurricane Sally caused prolonged power outages. Local hardware stores like Paris Ace Hardware in Foley are already stocked with emergency essentials such as batteries, water, generators, and plywood. Supplies like chainsaws can quickly sell out once storms approach, making early stocking vital. Residents are encouraged to check their hurricane kits now. Additionally, a weather radio programming event will be held Wednesday at Spanish Fort Ace Hardware to help residents stay informed and prepared.

The forecast is still quiet for now, but hurricane season is just getting started. Sunday marks the first day of the 2025 hurricane season, and from now through the end of November, everyone will be keeping a close eye on the tropics.
